 About the team

Formed in a dark & seedy Jakarta pub in 1993 known as The Eastern Promise (now revamped and rocking & no longer considered as seedy) this club was famed for being 'Jakarta’s Best Drinkers & Below Average Footballers'.  It started with a motley crew of wasted Wanderers who would meet weekly to play the game and get pissed up with their mates truly earning the title to be known as the most infamous team in the land.  The original claim to fame was having 'The Best Footballer in the World' in our team who is better known as an argumentative know-it-all grouch, Dave 'Super Hendo' Henderson, but who never comes anymore because he's embarrassed that he can't get a starting position in the side and is claiming that he hurt his knee.

For years the club struggled to even win a single match and were famous for being the whipping post of the league.  It took 10 years for them to compete but finally Your Hero joined them and the club, for the first time, reached the JIFL FA Cup Final (2002) but lost to JIS in a penalty kick nail-biter shoot-out.  Since then, with the addition of several past professionals and national team players including, the never aging and permanently fit icon of Singapore international football, Fandi Ahmad, and even an actual World Cup veteran in the former captain of Cameroon, Jules-Denis Onana , the Wanderers have so far dominated the first decade of the 2000s' and have now won the last 5 out of 7 League Championships plus winning 6 out of 8 JIFL FA Cup Finals straight in a row (2002-2009) establishing themselves as the most decorated team in JIFL history.  More importantly, the Wanderers always try to play a beautiful brand of skillful football.

Finally, the Wanderers are now listed in the Guinness Book of World Records by having topped Arsenal UK's unbeaten record and setting a new standard of 54 unbeaten league matches in a row from 2003-05.  The core of the team still meets weekly at the Odeon to get dizzy on a regular basis and watch English Premier League football.  That part has not changed.  That's a tradition.

Other Club Honours:

Knudde 6’s Champion
(4x’s):  2003, 2005, 2006, 2007

Bali 6’s Champion: 2005
