Hang With Me
Howdy do?
Well, if you read the last
JiFL Newsletter,
you will have noticed that I
discussed our attitudes and how we
come mentally prepared with one
type of mindset or
another to the matches which often
determines our behaviour on the
field during the pressure hour. And
however that behaviour manifests
itself then that, in turn, affects
everybody from the players to the
few fans who support us. And I
guess assuming that I wrote the
piece, then you could probably also
assume that I always come properly
prepared mentally and keep my
head on at a reasonable level since
I wrote about it, right? Excuse me,
wrong.
I,
too, can suffer from the
over-competitive hyper-tensive
mentality on occasion as well and
last Wednesday evening it flared
it's unattractive head. I surprised
and confused myself in the process
and instead of taking it out on the
opposing team like most people
regularly do, I took it out on my
own. It's a terrible thing to do to
your buddies and I want to give
them and the JIS Dragons
a heartfelt and sincere apology for
walking out on the game at halftime
without explanation. Consequently,
after Carl Albillot
(serving 17 years and 493 matches
for the club), the second longest
standing member of the club with a
decade of league experience and
well over 300 matches and a hundred
goals to his credit, Manny
Rawthore will be taking
over the coaching-manager duties
for me at the Wanderers
and I will continue working as the
club secretary making sure the
knitty-gritty details are
accomplished to properly run a team
in this league. I decided it was
better to make it a public apology
because I acted unacceptably under
any circumstances in the public
domain, in front of anybody paying
attention, during those two minutes
at halftime. But like I said I'm
working on it. I'll improve. Hang
with me. It's not over yet.
Well, if I
don't see you before, than I hope
to see you at the
World Cup 6's
Saturday - May 15th at ISCI. That
is always one of the best days in
our lives and this year will be no
different. I heard a rumor that
they are tapping a free kegger from
12:00-13:00 PM during the lunch
hour for those spectators and fans
that partake of that
particular substance. And the
internet and
ESPN
pundits early predictions this year
are on Italy, Cameroon, Scotland
(or the USA) and Indonesia to reach
the semi-finals -
