All behind Mike

Dear Patriots of the Worldwide Football Revolution,

Welcome back to the newest season of the JiFL. This year has been duly anticipated with a demand to start the regular season early by all clubs. Yet the Idul Fitri season struck that plan down. We will start as usual next week and the week following that. But, meanwhile there has been a lot of news throughout the league including a new team entering our midst. Let's hope for the best season yet in this upcoming World Cup year and in late May 2010 we will have the World Cup 6's to end the JiFL season. Please read the headlines:

All-Star Match
The 1st annual JiFL All-Star event was held this past Saturday at ISCI with the 1st team -v- the 2nd team.

The final score went in favor of the 1st team 5-3 in the end but that score was not important at all. Not at all. The point was to gather together the recognized league leaders and personalities in order to make a better and closer knit community that we have created over the last decade together. The standard was really enjoyable despite ending the match 10-v-10 due to exhaustion or excused early absences from a couple of players. The line-ups were as follows:

1st Team - Fandi Ahmad, Jesper Boutroup, Dale Mulholland, Dieter Cremer, Manny Rawthore, Willi Goldschmidt, Guillime, Marc Giovanola, Nico Clementz, Ronan O'Neill, and Gordon Boyd.

2nd Team - Eladio Rojas-Reyes, Claudio Luzardi, Patty Onana, Richo Freidman, Michael Cremer, Nico Nemelceff, Pedro Nemelceff, Dr. Chikaya Sakai, Ray Googles Atree, Jurrien Sietsma and Ollie Anderson.

Thanks to Anggi from ISCI for the photos.

New Provisional JiFL Member - Sabor Latino

A new team being managed by Pedro Nemelceff with a Latin preference (as might be derived from the name) is entering the league this year and will be known as none other than Sabor Latino. They will play out of Lebak Bulus Stadium usually on Wednesday evenings. Welcome to the new club and let's hope for the best for all of them involved.

Player Movements 2009
• Hernan Miguel
Last season's top goal-getter has been drafted to Sabor Latino from Wanderers in exchange for undisclosed sum.
• Pedro Nemelceff
Resigned from Wanderers to become Player-manager of rookie club Sabor Latinos.
• Michael Cremer
Approached for loan status to the Wanderers. Future unclear.
• Arifin Ahmad
Returned to Lions after illegal loan spell with Wanderers during the 2008/09 season.
• Ollie Anderson
It has been linked that he has been sold to the Wanderers from the Mighty Lions. The deal is unconfirmed at this time but independent investigations are in place to check this nasty rumour that is tearing up the league.

Schedule 2009/10
The schedule is finished and will be sent to the captains/managers for final approval and then will be published at JiFL.net this upcoming week. But just for your information, here are the 1st fixtures of the season:

15:30 PM Saturday, September 26th 20:00 PM Tuesday, September 29th 20:00 PM Wednesday, September 30th
German Plus -vs- Sabor Latino at DIS
Team Japan -vs- BuGils at Sentul
Wanderers -vs-Vikings JIS -vs- Arario Korea

Speedy Recovery
Mike Wildblood: Beloved life-time member and former manager of the Wanderers (874 appearances, ret.) Mike Wildblood has been hospitalized at Medestra after artery blockage to the heart attack last Monday morning. I visited him and he looks great with his sense of humour intact as always. Let's all wish the best for his recovery and sound health for years to come. Come on, Mike. We are all behind you. You should be suiting up for Scotland again in the World Cup 6's come mid-May.

See you live on the pitches...

A few people from different teams have mentioned that they are not happy with the way the Korean and the Eladio incidents were resolved/upheld and I assured them that in the future decisions made will not be made lightly (this was at the all star game).
Ray

Yes, that might be the case Ray, BUT we are FINISHED with this case, so why rehash it? It was brought up at the captains meeting. It was mentioned in the minutes that there will be a new system (no system is perfect), so let's leave it at that. Phil

LETTER FROM THE CHAIR

Ay up,

Well as the start of the season is being prepared by Dale, it's time to
reflect on last season.

OK enough of that.

2009-10 has all the makings of a great season, not least as we welcome a new team led by the effervescent Pedro (ex-wanderers). The team has been named SABOR LATINO which I believe means."The The taste of Latin America." I was pleasantly surprised how quickly Pedro's team was endorsed by the team managers, and I have committed myself to see their opener, wherever and whenever that takes place.

It's always fun to meet ex-players of the league and I was lucky enough to bump into a couple of them ( Marty McMyler and Dave Henderson, both ex-Wanderers) at Ray's 50th (Yes, he really is ONLY 50).

Personally, I believe the JIFL has brought a huge amount of enjoyment to the ex-pat community in Jakarta. Moreover, the league has added to the economy, whether by the usage of local refs and linesmen, local players, or more importantly the huge amounts of alcoholic beverages consumed over the years by the players.

Finally, I would like to thank all those people who have worked so hard to make the JIFL the success it has become, both past and present. Well Done!

Keep Smiling,

Philip Knaggs
Chairman

Mini league
Name : jiffl predictions
Code : FC1EC-LQL (it is a one not an i)

I know the score – scoring system

Wrong outcome
Example: You predict Arsenal 1 - Chelsea 1 and the result is Arsenal 1 - Chelsea 2   -10

Correct outcome but wrong goal difference
Example: You predict Arsenal 2 - Chelsea 1 and the result is Arsenal 4 - Chelsea 2   +10

Correct outcome and correct goal difference
Example: You predict Arsenal 2 - Chelsea 1 and the result is Arsenal 3 - Chelsea 2   +15

The draw predicted correctly but incorrect result
Example: You predict Arsenal 2 - Chelsea 2 and the result is Arsenal 1 - Chelsea 1   +20

Correct result
Example: You predict Arsenal 1 - Chelsea 2 and the result is Arsenal 1 - Chelsea 2   +30

Correct Banker Placement
If you place the Banker Chip on any correct outcome your points score for that fixture is multiplied. If a fixture contains a team that finished within the top 4 league places in the previous Gameweek the multiplier will be x2 otherwise it will be x3.

Correct Insurance Placement
Example: If you placed your Insurance chip on a fixture whose outcome you predicted incorrectly then the worst you can score is 0.

Banker Bonus
If you place your Banker correctly your Banker Bonus for the following week is credited with +5 points up to a maximum of +20. If you place your Banker incorrectly, your Banker Bonus is reset to zero for the following week. If you decide not to play your Banker your bonus will be protected but you will not score your bonus for that Gameweek.

On correct outcome the Banker Bonus works as follows:
Wk0..........0
Wk1..........+5
Wk2..........+10
Wk3..........+15
Wk4 (maximum)..........+20
Wk5 (maximum)..........+20
