A Bastion Of Sportsmanship

Dear football pirates,

I always think that thought whenever I see a team with the players wearing various coloured socks for a match.  But, seriously, it does make the match look 50% better when all teams are wearing the same colored socks, are shinguarded up, and wear matching kits.  And the play looks 50% better as well and it seems that everybody is just in much better frame of mind when they match and feel completely part of the group.  By the way, have you noticed what I have noticed recently?  When a player actually wears black shoes it looks strange nowadays.  He doesn't fit in anymore.  It was quite the opposite just a decade ago.  I remember watching Simeone being the first  to do it in the  late '90's since  the days of  Alan Hinton whom  told

me that they gave him 50,000.  quid back in '67'68 to wear those white jobs.  That bought him a house with the winnings.  But unlike Aln, Simeone looked slow and a bit clumsy at the time.  All you noticed was those bright white shoes stomping about the field.  Now it seems the opposite is in place.  The lad with the black shoes looks a bit odd.  Funny how our radar and filter system works inside our brains and how we collectively all share the same reflections.  I find it fascinating for one.

So, what is up this summer and what is planned?  I hear players asking me all summer (every year) 'When is the league starting?'  And I always cheerfully answer, (like a good German), that it is starting in September.  Meanwhile here is what is upcoming:

JiFL Indoor Futsal Tournament - Saturday, September 5th at Pro Arena Futsal Indoor Center - Pondok Indah.  Minimum of 6 players per side.  Enter more than one team if you want.  Deadline for entrance will be August 31st.  Contact jifl.net to book a place.

All-Star Match - moved to Saturday, September 12th.

Monday Evenings -  Meanwhile, Wanderers are playing futsal every Monday evening 19:00-21:00 PM at Pro Arena if any team wants to come and play.  Come out and get a picture with the great Fandi Ahmad.  Only $40 Singapore dollars if you want it autographed.  Jules Onana photos and autographs negotiable.  Contact manager: dalemulholland@gmail.com to schedule a match.  Send $20 Us dollars to Nico Sanders if you want just a photo.

We want to say farewell to one of the better players to play in the JiFL over the years.  First he played for FC D's Place and then signed with the Grasshoppers of One Tree and has been a bastion of sportsmanship and good nature in our league over the years.  2009 1st Team All-Star Guillermo Boccardo of Argentina leaves us to enter the Argentine Football Training Camp under Diego Maradona to hoepfully get selected for the World Cup squad that may or may not qualify for South Africa 2010.  Good luck Guillermo.  You will be missed but not forgotten.

Your Friend Always,

Your Hero.

Code : FC1EC-LQL (it is a one not an i)

I know the score – scoring system

Wrong outcome
Example: You predict Arsenal 1 - Chelsea 1 and the result is Arsenal 1 - Chelsea 2   -10

Correct outcome but wrong goal difference
Example: You predict Arsenal 2 - Chelsea 1 and the result is Arsenal 4 - Chelsea 2   +10

Correct outcome and correct goal difference
Example: You predict Arsenal 2 - Chelsea 1 and the result is Arsenal 3 - Chelsea 2   +15

The draw predicted correctly but incorrect result
Example: You predict Arsenal 2 - Chelsea 2 and the result is Arsenal 1 - Chelsea 1   +20

Correct result
Example: You predict Arsenal 1 - Chelsea 2 and the result is Arsenal 1 - Chelsea 2   +30

Correct Banker Placement
If you place the Banker Chip on any correct outcome your points score for that fixture is multiplied. If a fixture contains a team that finished within the top 4 league places in the previous Gameweek the multiplier will be x2 otherwise it will be x3.

Correct Insurance Placement
Example: If you placed your Insurance chip on a fixture whose outcome you predicted incorrectly then the worst you can score is 0.

Banker Bonus
If you place your Banker correctly your Banker Bonus for the following week is credited with +5 points up to a maximum of +20. If you place your Banker incorrectly, your Banker Bonus is reset to zero for the following week. If you decide not to play your Banker your bonus will be protected but you will not score your bonus for that Gameweek.

On correct outcome the Banker Bonus works as follows:
Wk0..........0
Wk1..........+5
Wk2..........+10
Wk3..........+15
Wk4 (maximum)..........+20
Wk5 (maximum)..........+20
