The cheers and the beers

Bonjour,

Yes, I know, at first sight it looks like a bit unusual. Did Frenchie took over power in the league? (don't shake, not yet). Instead of the great columnist you love to read or to hate, it is just me, Nico, JiFL webmaster, writing this last editorial of the season. Where is your Hero? Donde esta el lider maximo? Di mana? Actually, I have no idea but I bet he's not far and of course he's alive and well in Jakarta. Busy golfing maybe...

I am not going to talk about football for two very simple reasons, the first one being that other people can do this much better than I, and secondly, what could I say on the topic, now that we know who are our champions [please have a look at the Final Player’s Player of the Year Voting and at the All-Stars voting].

Next season, we'll all be happy to meet again on the pitches because as everyone knows down here, all is well in the land of the JiFL. It's even getting better everyday like a pretty famous Dutch expat columnist (and actually much more than that) uses to say.

Here you go for eternity with the photos of the party. Those who missed it (Jurrien, where art thou?) and those who attended can enjoy the cheers and the beers and everything else that has made a fantastic night. Again, thanks to everyone who contributed to this success (they will recognize themselves, thanks to the photos).

Last but not least, next season will reveal a few online surprises that I'm having prepared for you guys and that should help keeping up the good development of our league. Thanks for reading me until here (or thanks anyway for jumping to this last line) and remember that in any circumstances, "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown in to the sea." And, voilà!

Not Yet Everybody's Hero but hopefully one day...

JasperKeeping a low profile and not seeming to be a threat, the aptly named ‘ Late Challenge’ rose through the ranks to finish first, making Jasper Bouman the first ever JIFFL Manager. Well done and congratulations to BuGil FC’s very own Alex Ferguson.

Wouter Lindner, ex Knudde player and manager of ‘No Mercy’ was sitting at the top quite comfortably for quite a while before that old BuGils / Knudde rivalry had them chasing the top spot. Well done too, to the other three managers in the top five looking for the glory and esteem that ‘Manager Of The Year’ would bring them, only to be credited with being near the top of the table.

WouterJasper can now look forward to taking the reigns as the new big wig for the BuGils FC team and use his winning managerial skills to take them to the top of the JIFL next season.

I sincerely hope that next season there will be an actual award for the JIFFL Manager at the end of season party next year and that many more of you will sign up and ‘pit your wits’ against those that played this year to become the ‘Jakarta International Fantasy Football Manager’ for the 2009/10 season.
