Edito: a 10 million rupiah bounty

Dear Soccer Buddies,

Need I say it again?  Does anybody not realize at this point that JIS are the insider's bet to win the league this season? Again last week they stepped all over the powerful men of DOIT Satu Lagi with a 2-1 victory. Rumor is going around that whenever Whibbley Wobbley is out of town, the boys of DOIT are out of form. Meanwhile, Wanderers and FC D's Place conspired to postpone their match until both teams had a full force to do battle at some future date to the dismay of the league scheduler who is pissed off at both clubs to no end.

In other matches, Team Japan and the Mighty Lions had a good little battle going out at Sentul for about 70 minutes until 'Scooter' Thompson decided on one of his blind backheels that top goalscoring legend 'Predator' Sugimoto salivated all over on the way to the match winning goal that ultimately broke the Lion's Heart (pun intended). In the other match of the week, that much improved total footballing nation at Knudde gave a second half soft-thumping to their border countrymen at the Vikings to move the skilled Dutchmen closer to a possible UEFA Cup spot.

And lastly, there is a rumor flying around the football community that a 10 million rupiah bounty is on the heads of the lads at JIS.  Apparently, it is said that any team left in their regular season schedule who can defeat them are in for a reward of said amount. That leaves only BuGils FC, Team Japan, the Mighty Lions, and the formerly almighty Wanderers to try to do it. I think that maybe the Ex-Pats still have a game left to play at JIS as well? Not sure about that one but 'hmmmmmm....' I wonder who is funding this little venture?

Well, gentlemen, to say the least, besdies being fun it is also an interesting league to play football in.... good luck this week.

JIS    2 -vs- 1    Do It Satu Lagi
Date:  Wednesday, Mar. 9th

Scorers:
Jurrien Sietsma (JIS) (1), Gordon Boyd (JIS) (1), Dennis Clarke (Doit) (1)
MOM: Erwin (Doit), Mom JIS unknown

As expected a 80 minutes game full of action. DOIT went ahead with a gift from Mark Gray to Dennis who cool put the ball in the net. Only a minute later came the JIS answer with a fine header from Jurrien. The rest of the game was JIS in control, but SID blocked almost all the balls, and the rest did Erwin who had one of his best games ever. Only a superb 25m shot from Gordon made it finally 2:1, but in the last 10 minutes DOIT was close more the once  to make at least the draw. Anyway, another win for JIS and we are closing in to the championship.

Uwe (JIS)

DOIT DO JIS ANOTHER FAVOUR...

Doit started with a strong line up and the opening skirmishes were quite even. Doit played well playing through the midfield and this resulted in a well deserved goal after about 20 minutes. A through ball found Denis just inside the box, he took a touch and settled himself before finishing low and hard. It felt as though JIS scored before we had restarted. From the restart JIS attacked and scored within 30 seconds, putting DOIT back in their place. Both teams played good football and fought out the rest of the half in a fairly even game. Highlight of the first half had to be Erwin's save from Gordon Boyd who curled the ball towards Erwin's top left hand corner, still don't know how he got to a hand to it.

With Tim having to call off at the last minute due to Josh falling ill on the school trip, there was a tirade of complaints at the pitiful supply of water I had pulled together at the last minute. Also at half time JIS were strengthened when Thomas turned up. Apparently he was delayed as some untidy body hair had been spotted during his last photo shoot. Uwe sorted it all though and JIS started with a strong team in the second half. I have to say there was a strong contingent on the JIS bench but not all were used, maybe saving their stronger players!!!!!!

Again the second half was an even affair but JIS created several one on one chances against the keeper and could have scored more. Sid had a brilliant game just seeming to 'be there' when needed as did Eric who played the game with a potential broken finger, hope it wasn't the whole finger!!!!!!!!! Erwin continued to outfox Gordon who was their main threat, but eventually JIS took the lead. Gordon hit a sweet shot from about 30 yards out into the top right hand corner, a great goal that deserved to decide such a good match. Doit kept playing good football and chances fell to both sides, and the JIS bench went unusually quite whenever Ronan got the ball in their half. JIS also created more chances but failed to convert them. At full time everyone had enjoyed the game played in the right spirit and which contained a high level of footballing skills and a good performance from the ref.

Mick McTeir (Doit)

Vikings FC    1 -vs- 3    FC Knüdde
Date:  Wednesday, Mar. 9th

no report received from Knüdde

Scorers: Ronaldo (Vikings) (1)

MOM: John Flood (Viking)

With only 12 players available on the night it was going be difficult but a 1-0 score at halftime without Knudde having created just one open chance gave hope for a result in our favor.  Alas, the match ended 1-3 to Knudde who was the better team on the day but needed significant help by luck and Vikings to score their 3 goals.
